Bird 'hide' at Center Parcs, Whinfell
| We arrived here (as in Center Parcs, Whinfell) with the Hortons some time on Friday afternoon. I didn't seem to take many pictures on Friday. Many? Yeah, I mean any actually. But hey . . . M**** and I went for a walk at some point, spotting a deer (or fawn, perhaps) hiding in the undergrowth, a family of what could have been juvenile / baby pheasants (filmed on my mobile) and various flying things at this hide.

Kind of early birthday celebrations
| So we kind of figured: well, R******'s birthday soon and we got friends and family all gathered together, which may not happen in the same manner on his actual birthday, so let's celebrate now. And so we did.

Yordas Cave
| | As the relentless heatwave continued, M**** had a great idea for today - head for a cave. The cave was Yordas Cave, somewhere between Ingleton and Dent, which M**** had previously visited as part of a school trip. The difference in temperature was acute and very much welcome. It was probably mid to high 20s (degree celsius) outside, with barely any cloud cover. Inside the cave, it was of course dark and rather damp but the temperature felt about 15 degrees cooler. The water levels had dropped considerably since M**** had last been here, but the waterfall was still a feature and R****** and I did a bit of exploring, under the advice / guidance of M****.
