I should explain . . . we had a plan today, or a vague plan: we did the bus tour thingy, which was great (using a ticket purchased yesterday) and got off at the Whisky museum stop (or whatever the hell it is . . . the top end of the Royal Mile) . . . so the plan was to go to the Camera Obscura thingy. But there was massive queues, and plus it was cold, wet and windy. So do we stand around queuing for hours in these conditions or do something else? We wandered up to the castle, just for the hell of it, and it was whilst we were up there that the boys had that realisation: we were really looking forward to going to the Camera Obscura thingy, but now we can't. And, so, understandably, they were a little miffed . . . but we made the best of it, headed for the National Museum of Scotland, and it was great. The boys mood perked up and it was all fine.
