I still don't know who has right of way
So, picture this . . . you're coming up to a 'give way' sign at a cross-roads. You're coming from a minor road, hoping to turn right onto a major road. You're driving a car on a UK road (hey, you never know, I get web-bots reading this stuff from all over). However, this ain't a straightforward T-junction. Directly opposite there's a no-entry road where traffic emerges, turning right, left or straight on. There's no traffic on the major road and you're thinking you're clear to set off when a car appears from this no-entry road opposite and they're waiting to turn left. So these two cars are facing each other, blocking each other's path and you're thinking,
"Who the hell has priority here?" I don't know. The Highway Code isn't exactly clear. So who does what? Such a junction, of course, exists nearby and M**** had a similar problem to that described above, although when you add a load of non-verbal communication between drivers (and passengers) and confusion on the part of both drivers as to who has priority you have a recipe for disaster. Although the disaster in this case wasn't so much a disaster but rather an escalation of angry and entirely unclear non-verbal communication.

A******'s nativity (kind of)
I dunno what was going on with the camera here . . . it couldn't work out where to focus and the flash wasn't really helping much. But hey . . . A****** was a sheep. |

Tuesday 15th December 2009
So yeah . . . the nativity was spread over two days, so this is day two. Well, I say spread over two days but it was the same 45-minute performance done twice - once today, once yesterday.

. . . then over to my parents' house
| |
So, the aim here, in the first five photos, was to capture all ten of my parents' grandchildren. They're rarely all together all at once, so it was a rare opportunity. However, the moment was brief. Henry kind of wandered off and Jake and Ethan started fighting but, hey, objective largely achieved. Later on we were playing Pictionary. |

. . . then off to Ambleside (more snow!)

Tuesday 29th December 2009
. . . and then back to Ambleside (sledging!)
I stayed at home with R****** today, tidying the house, that kind of thing. M****, A****** and Uncle Simon went back to Ambleside to take advantage of the snow-covered hills, with a bit of sledging. M**** took the camera to Ambleside but then forgot to take it out on the sledging expedition.

New Year's Eve
|
Those first two pictures were taken for two reasons: (1) to prove to M**** that, yes, I did indeed take the boys out today (M**** was at work, see) and (2) as memory of the state of the canal. I probably could have walked safely on sections of that but . . . perhaps not a brilliant idea, not a fantastic example to set for A****** and R******. The rest of various drunken pictures taken during our little get-together. Vague attempts at trying to get my camera to take a picture of everyone. Failed.
