The lamb
So the story here is the following: during a recent walk along Trough Road (Over Wyresdale), M**** and I had stumbled upon a lamb in distress, trapped between two wire fences. In order to reach the lamb, someone would have had to navigate a very muddy part of the field, as can be seen in these photos. We left the lamb, vaguely thinking, "Hmmmmm, if only we could somehow alert the land owner." As luck would have it, not long after that, a car pulled into one of the long farm roads off Trough Road, and we were able to get the attention of the driver. M**** explained the situation to the lady driver and, to cut a long story short, she said she would tell the land owner, who she knew. Our job done, we carried on our way. In the days following, M**** chose to avoid that walk, for fear of encoutering a dead lamb being picked apart by crows. So R****** and I did the walk instead, which is today. There was no evidence of the lamb, which could of course mean many things but, crucially, M**** had nothing to worry about (at least in terms of the fate of the lamb).
