The infamous coal eating episode
I guess all children do it or would do it, given the chance - eat coal, that is. A****** never had the chance, as we didn't have coal in the house when he was at the coal-eating stage. But yeah . . . R****** tucked into some of E&S's finest smokeless fuel (well, perhaps not its finest, but definitely the cheapest). I don't think R****** suffered any ill affects. M**** took this picture.

- Comment: by the way, why do you say it was M**** who takes certain photos? are you showing off her skills or distancing yourself from them? and if R****** was a pregnant woman his coal-eating would be called pica.

- Comment: That is a fantastic question (those are fantastic questions) and I wonder why no-one has ever asked it/them before. The diplomat says, "Oh yes, I'm showing off her skills, definitely," however . . . the truth is a bit of both, but I'm distancing myself in the sense that I simply had little to do with the taking of the pictures and that is all; it's a distancing that has neither positive nor negative connotations. I thought 'pica' was a word that sounded a bit Italian and could very easily be a fairly commonplace type-face, or perhaps something to do with units of measurement (god sake, why don't I just do a Google search?), so I'll have to revise this definition to encompass pregnant, coal-eating women . . . I had no idea. All good stuff.

- Comment: I thought a pica was a small mouse-type animal capable of making a very loud 'EEEEK' sound...

- Comment: Yes, that'll do. Any other definitions of pica? I looked up pica on Wikipedia (where else?) and R****** doesn't even need to be pregnant or female (help - tautology) to have pica, apparently. Word root: Latin for magpie. Moving on . . .
