Leighton Moss

Today A****** had the day off and as I was, erm, 'between contracts', we went for a little drive around North Lancashire. First stop was Leighton Moss, for a spot of bird watching. The top spot was an otter, which I can't claim sole credit for; upon heading for a hide, a man pointed out the otter and exactly where to look. We got the binoculars out and there it was, bobbing in and out of the water. We saw a few other things . . . a reed warbler (or whatever it was), a heron, some kind of unusual tit, a jay. That last one would have been quite amazing, had we not seen loads of these things in Cornwall, but hey . . . I digress. I'm sure A****** spotted loads more stuff, but I forget now. Then we picked up some lunch in Milnthorpe (market day), but the desserts weren't great, so . . . off to Arnside, to pick up a cake or two. Cakes purchased, we found a nice spot near Gait Barrows to eat our lunch. A quick walk around Gait Barrows (very quick), and then it was time to pick M**** up. Done.
