A well-ripened jalapeƱo
Check out these little beauties. It seemed to take a hell of a long time for these to ripen but, at last, I have a load of bright red jalapeños. I've found that the red ones taste a little sweeter than the green ones and also seem a bit spicier. All the spice seems to be in the seeds with these peppers, though. I want to get me growing some proper habaneros or similar; that's next year's plan.

- Comment: Purely from a selfish point of view - yes, that would help my peppers. Of course, for those living around equatorial/tropical parts of the planet, a rise in temperature might not be such a good thing. Ah well. What's interesting in articles like the one you've linked to are all the comments. I wonder if the tide is finally turning . . . (bad choice of metaphor?!)
